So you are buying a new console but should you go for the option with the CD drive, or go without to save a few dollars?

Have you ever even thought about this?

I know i hadnt until buying my last XBOX ...

Does it make more sense to own the hard copy as opposed to the digital version of the game?

If you ask me - Hard copy is most definitely the way to go!

Look, im not opposed to a digital copy - there are benefits (you can get it instantly, dont even have to leave the house ... or the couch!!) but there's something about owning the disc that speaks to me ... just like owning a record collection, or CD collection, or DVD collection, or cassette collection ... no, wait, maybe ive taken it too far?

There are of course advantages to owning the game like (but not limited to);

- Resale value: If you get bored with it, sell it and put the money into the next game. Sure, it might only fetch $10 however if you have a drawer full of old games you dont play, it soon adds up!

- Sharing games: So you've finished Call of Duty and your best mate wants to play it ... you can always lend them your copy (as long as it comes back of course - As we say here in Australia - Its a Boomerang!)

- Multi Console: If you are like me and have a couple of XBOX Consoles (so I can play Grand Theft Auto in the other room while the kids are playing Minecraft) then having the disc means i can play on any console

- Pricing: Chances are if you shop around, the retail war in your area means that you will grab a bargain when the sales go on ... Could be 10%, 20% or 50% off sometimes!!!

- Game Collector: If you are a hoarder ... i mean collector (like me) then nothing is greater than building up your collection of video games. How great is it to show off to all your mates?

- Its yours: Yes, you own it forever ... its yours ... a hard drive crash doesnt mean you've lost it

So are you on board? Are you ready to build up your collection of video games?
